Setup for Success Birth to Five Program

setuplog.jpg

St Peter Chanel Catholic School runs the free Setup for Success program offering an enriching early childhood program for any members of the community with children from 0 - 5 years old. The aim of St Peter Chanel’s Setup for Success program—Learning Treasures—is to work with families to build a community of learners who support children to become engaged with their learning for life, inspired by Christian values.

Parents/guardians attend Setup for Success alongside their children in a welcoming and inspiring environment designed to promote development across all learning areas. St Peter Chanel staff value parents as their child’s first, ongoing and often most influential teachers. At Learning Treasures we develop partnerships with families in order to give children the best start, recognising children’s development and learning from birth. Children’s experiences in the earliest years of their life are critical to their ongoing development. These experiences have a significant impact on their future achievements at school and the extent to which they are able to take advantage of opportunities later in life.

Learning Treasures is facilitated and supervised by qualified early years educators. It provides play-based opportunities to support the growth of the whole child including early numeracy and literacy skills, gross and fine motor skills as well as encouraging social skills. Learning Treasures provides an opportunity for children to become familiar with the school environment. Excursions and guest speakers provide an opportunity to connect with other groups, services and agencies in the local area.

Learning Treasures is held in the current Kindergarten classroom and those attending, have access to the early years playground, providing a safe and engaging environment in which to play and interact.

The Learning Treasures program includes a nutritious complimentary fruit break.

Parents and guardians are required to stay and participate with their children throughout the duration of the program. The Learning Treasures program operates each Monday from 9:00am - 10:30am, except for the last Monday of each term and public holidays.

Enquiries regarding Learning Treasures are welcome by contacting the school office on (03) 6452 1431.

Please see our calendar for more details regarding each session and dates.
